INTRODUCTION
Hockey has a rich heritage in Ulster, dating back to 1896 when the first records of organised matches have been discovered locally. Today, Ulster Hockey supports 27 men’s and 50 women’s hockey clubs and 12,000 members and players.
We are extremely proud to have launched Club 1896, an exciting new initiative aimed at harnessing the power of connections through a shared passion for sport and business. This forum will promote the interests of the local business sector and our members the chance to expand their sphere of contacts and enjoy valuable workshops, seminars and keynote addresses from the world of sport and enterprise.
Club 1896 will facilitate four meetings including an annual gala dinner each year, starting in 2024. Membership is now open and we are keen to hear from any organisations or individuals who would like to support or feature in our event series. Importantly, all income generated by Club 1896 will be re-invested into the development of hockey at every level. Together, through Club 1896, we can unlock great potential for sport, for business and, I believe, the wider local economy.
