Congratulations to all the Ulster Hockey Masters who performed magnificently at the Exin Master World Cup 2018 in Terrassa, Spain over 10 days (27th July – 5th August)!

Regularly playing in seriously high temperatures the Masters ladies and men had a tremendous tournament and Ulster Players, Management and Physios were well represented and played a significant role.

The Women’s Over 50s (pictured and squad listed) had a brilliant World Cup, winning the Gold Medal and 1st Place, defeating Australia 1-0 in the Final! Credit to all the Squad, Coach Philip Mills (Ards Ladies Hockey Club) and their charismatic Manager Gill Jackson. Club KV will be especially pleased for Julie Doak who scored a fantastic 6 goals giving her 3rd spot overall in the Women’s 50s Goal Scorer listing!

It was some party last Sunday night in Terrassa with the incredible Ireland World Cup Silver Medal and the Masters Ladies Gold!

Very well done also to the Women’s 55s squad achieving a very credible 4th Place, just losing out on the Bronze Medal (L1-2 to Scotland). Other Ireland Master Squads final World Cup Tournament Placing’s were really good and are now high in the World Rankings: Women’s 40s 6th, Women’s 45s 9th, Men’s 40s 10th, Men’s 45s 5th, M50s 5th and Men’s 55s 15th.

The Ulster Ladies Vets League and the Ulster Men’s Blitz would welcome many more to come “back to hockey” and play Masters, it’s never too late!
