The 2025 Interprovincials get underway this afternoon at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club with both the Ulster U16 and U18 boys’ heading into the competition as reigning champions.
Both sides kick things off with a double header later today, facing Munster this afternoon before the sides meet Leinster for the first time this evening.
Last season, the U16s were guided to Interprovincial success under the stewardship of Julian Costelloe, claiming their title with a final-day win over Munster at Abbottstown. However, now under the management of Matthew Bell, the team are looking to retain their title.
Over the summer, the side have played a host of friendly fixtures, most recently taking on English opposition in the Hockey Mentors and the UK Lions, managing some impressive results along the way.
They will now play their opening game of this year’s Interpros at 14:00 this afternoon, when they face Leinster before a meeting with Munster at 18:00.
Also looking to retain their title, the U18s are led by Mark Evans, who, in his 18-month stint as coach, has guided his side to both UK School Games and Interprovincial success.
Now looking for yet more silverware, he and his side have also been in action recently against the Hockey Mentors, contesting a series of competitive friendlies against the English side at Ulster University, Jordanstown and Belfast High School just last week.
The side will get their compeititon underway at 15:00 when they take on Leinster this afternoon before they face Munster in the final game of today’s schedule at 19:00.
