CI Annadale announce the death of Stephen Galway

Everyone at Ulster Hockey is saddened to learn of the passing of Stephen Galway, an esteemed member of CI Annadale Hockey Club.

Having become a member of the club at a young age, Stephen progressed through the club’s ranks, representing both Ulster and Ireland at junior level and becoming a well-established member of the 1st XI during one of the club’s most successful eras.

Throughout the years, he has also given back to the club, taking up coaching roles, umpiring, and leading youth teams in several tours.

In recent years, he has also represented the Irish Masters, as well as being credited with having played a key role in the partnership between CIYMS and Annadale.

In a statement on their social media, CI Annadale said:

“Every club, every sport, every player needs a Stephen Galway, someone whose dedication, humility and love for the game embody the true spirit of community and selflessness.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences are with his wife Maxine and sons Patrick and Gregor as well as the wider family circle at this extremely difficult time.

Stephen will be sorely missed, as a teammate, a volunteer, a leader and most of all, a friend.”
