Our U16 girls have been crowned Interpro Champions after beating Leinster 5-1 in Dublin.

The win means Ulster has won the section of the competition for a fourth year in a row.

After a quiet first quarter in Dublin, the game exploded into life in the second after an Alyssa Somerville goal just minutes into the period opened the scoring.

Five minutes later the unmarked Evie Girvan was picked out in the circle and had plenty of time to pick her spot to double the lead.

Ulster nearly added a third when a short corner was slipped left before a ball to the back post was diverted wide by a forward.

Midway through the third quarter the Ulster defence were put under considerable pressure when Leinster won a series of short corners.

However, having cleared the danger they soon added a third. Alyssa Somerville got her second of the game when she was left unmarked in the circle before beating the onrushing goalkeeper ten minutes into the quarter.

The side almost added a fourth having won another short corner. The ball was eventually worked to Lara Wilson but the forward was unlucky to see her effort blocked by a defender.

Leinster were given a route back into the game when they got a goal back a minute into the final quarter. Having worked the ball to the byline it was then played across the face of goal for a tap-in at the back post.

However, there was an immediate response from Ulster as Lara Wilson added a fourth Ulster goal after the restart.

Ulster rounded off their performance with our fifth goal of the game whenRuby Johnson injected the corner before the ball was worked back to her and she converted from close range.
