The Ulster U16s ended their Interpros campaign with a 3-2 win over Munster at Comber Road yesterday morning.
Having fallen behind early, three goals from Josh Bingham, Ethan Constable and Charlie Keys saw the side turn the game around and seal a final game victory.
It took just 90 seconds for Munster to take the lead in the tie, having built up down the left wing, a forward was left unmarked in the circle before converting at the near post.
However, just a minute later, Ulster were level after Harry Stevenson quickly won his side a penalty corner.
Despite a mis-trap at the top of the circle, the hosts re-adjusted, working the ball to Josh Bingham, who struck from the top of the circle to equalise.
Towards the end of the quarter, there was another chance for Ulster as Ethan Kilpatrick won his side another corner, but another mis-trap at the top of the circle led to a breakdown in the attack and the danger was cleared.
Instead, it was the visitors who took the lead, once again scoring within 90 seconds of the restart.
From an Ulster free out, a high turnover saw Munster break through on goal before picking out the bottom corner from the top of the circle.
Five minutes later, the visitors could have been two ahead having won a penalty corner, but a smart routine ended with a strike going wide of the far post and it remained 2-1.
With half-time fast approaching, Ulster drew level.
Noah Cuddy won the ball back in a dangerous position before finding Josh Aiken in the circle, who, instead of shooting, squared for Ethan Constable for an open goal.
As the second half got underway, it was Ulster who took the lead.
Harry Stevenson did well to win his side yet another penalty corner before the first two initial strikes were saved, but the third fell nicely for injector Charlie Keys to score at the back post.
However, just a minute later, Ulster were back under pressure as defender Josh Haffey was shown a green card and Ulster were temporarily reduced to ten men.
Despite the man advantage, Munster couldn’t find a breakthrough and it was Ulster who held on for the win and sealed second spot in the competition.
