Ulster Hockey is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of umpiring hockey in Ulster. As part of the IHUA Development programme, our aim is to encourage people regardless of age, gender, or ethnic background, to get involved in umpiring and to raise the profile of umpiring in Ulster.
Umpiring is a hugely rewarding way of taking part in hockey. The umpire’s role is to ensure fair play and ultimately facilitate the enjoyable experience of everyone involved in a hockey match.
Whether you want to get involved with hockey for the first time or you’re an experienced player or coach looking to take the next step in your hockey career there’s an umpiring qualification suited to helping you become the umpire you wish to be.
To assist developing umpires within Clubs, Ulster Hockey will be running a series of Umpire workshops in September, October and November across the province.
The purpose of the workshops is to offer support and guidance to all club umpires, no matter at what level, in order to assist, develop their skills, improve confidence, and attain consistency in decision making and rules interpretation.
