The Belfast Telegraph Girls Senior Cup Semi-Finals take place this afternoon at Havelock Park as four school sides compete to be crowned the best girls team in Ulster.
Within the final four are Stevenson Cup champions Royal School Armagh, Strathearn School, Rainey Endowed and reigning champions Portadown College.
Strathearn School vs Royal School Armagh (1pm)
Strathearn are looking to win the Belfast Telegraph Girls Senior Cup for the first time since 1992 and add to the seven titles that they have already won.
The side beat Antrim Grammar 5-0 in the Round of 16 in January before beating Stevenson Cup finalists Banbridge Academy in a shootout in the Quarter-Finals and now take on one of the heavy favourites to win the competition.
Greg Thompson’s side are looking to win the competition for a third time in four seasons and go one step further than last season when they were beaten finalists.
Having already won the Stevenson Cup this term, the side are also out to complete a cup double and progressed to the Semi-Finals with wins over Victoria College Belfast and Methodist College Belfast.
Rainey Endowed School vs Portadown College (3pm)
In our second Semi-Final, 2018 champions Rainey Endowed take on reigning champions Portadown College.
Looking to end their eight-year wait to lift the trophy, Rainey Endowed are in familiar territory as regular visitors to this stage of the competition and have already beaten both Sullivan Upper and Wallace High School on route to the final four.
However, standing in their way of a place in the final are last season’s winners who ended their 29-year wait to lift the trophy last March.
Following a draw in normal time, the side required a shootout to edge past Royal School Armagh and win the compeittion for a fourth time.
