LWM Prem: Belfast Harlequins and Banbridge move into EYHL2 places

In the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League, Banbridge climbed to second as they beat Ballymoney 6-3 at Havelock Park.

The win also sees Banbridge extend their unbeaten run in the division to three games following a win over Omagh and last weekend’s draw with Armagh.

Steph Ardis continued her fine form this season when she reacted quickly to an initial save from a penalty corner to open the scoring; however, her side were soon pegged back with Millie Parke netting for the visitors.

Ardis soon got her second of the afternoon to restore her side’s lead before a Nancy McCusker strike extended their advantage to 3-1 before the half-time break.

On course for all three points, Banbridge soon let their advantage slip as Lucy McCartney scored for the third consecutive week before Anna Wright drew her side level.

However, Steph Ardis soon completed her hat-trick to once again put her side in front before adding her fourth of the afternoon alongside a Cliona Cochrane strike to round off an emphatic 6-3 win.

The win sees the side climb to second in the division, whilst Ballymoney remain bottom.

Elsewhere, Belfast Harlequins continued their strong start to the season as they won 2-1 away to Lisnagarvey.

2023/24 Duke Cup winner Alyssa Jebb opened the scoring after Clarie Whiteside drove along the baseline, before picking out her teammate to score her second goal of the season.

The visitors then doubled their lead when Linzi Hamilton deflected in from a penalty corner.

Having had chances to extend their lead to 3-0, Harlequins were then punished for not putting the game to bed when Katherine Boyd scored from a well-worked Lisnagarvey penalty corner with just over 10 minutes remaining.

However, it was Harlequins who held on for the win and took all three points back to Belfast as the side climbed to third in the division.

There were three more games scheduled in this weekend’s action, but they all fell victim to Storm Amy and will be rescheduled for a later date.
