LWM Prem: Weekend Preview

The Legacy Wealth Management Premier League returns after a brief hiatus with Armagh hosting Belfast Harlequins this evening.

The home side have made a steady start to the season, winning one, drawing one and losing one of their opening three games this season, yet sit eighth in the division.

Should the side avoid defeat this weekend, they will be three games unbeaten in the league, a feat they only matched once last season.

They now face a Belfast Harlequins side who come into the game off the back of a 2-1 win against Lisnagarvey with goals from Alyssa Jebb and Linzi Hamilton.

The win marked their second in four games and helped them climb to third in the division as one of three sides joint on seven points at the top.

In the first of Saturday’s games, top of the table Ards host fourth-placed Mossley at Londonderry Park.

As the only team yet to lose a game this season, Ards come into the weekend top of the division by goal difference following wins over Lurgan and Omagh in recent weeks.

Having only conceded one goal so far this campaign, the 2021/22 champions also rank as the best defence in this year’s competition.

However, they are now set to come up against a Mossley side who boast one of the league’s top goal scorers with Lucy Campbell having already scored four goals this season – the second most of anyone in the competition.

At the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney continue their search for their first points of the season when they host Lurgan.

The home side have lost all four of their opening games this season, most recently losing 6-3 to high-flying Banbridge.

Despite the sides form, forward Lucy McCartney has started the season brilliantly, netting in each of her sides last three outings.

They now take on Lurgan who in their last two games have secured wins over Lisnagarvey and Belfast Harlequins.

The side also won the last meeting between these two sides when they met on the final day of the 2024/25 season, with goals from Chloe McCann, Lydia McNeil and Jenny Morrow securing a 3-1 victory.

Elsewhere, two of the division’s in-form sides go head-to-head as Banbridge take on Larne at Havelock Park.

Both sides have made strong starts to the campaign with Larne winning two of their opening three games, whilst their hosts sit second in the division only behind Ards by goal difference.

Banbridge come into the game having already beaten their points tally from last season and boosted by the form of Stef Ardis, who netted four goals in their 6-3 win over Ballymoney.

Meanwhile, should results go their way, a win for either side could see them finish the weekend top of the division.

The final game of the weekend sees Lisnagarvey make the journey to Omagh.

The visitors have made an inconsistent start to the season, winning two and losing two from their opening four games of the campaign.

Despite coming into the weekend in sixth, a win could still see Ryan McMaster’s side climb to the top spot should other results go in their favour.

As for Omagh, they come into the weekend in ninth, as the only side in the league who are yet to score a goal this season.
