Men’s Premier League Preview

South Antrim are looking to bounce back from their Anderson Cup Final defeat as they travel to Edenvilla to face Portadown.

The Lisburn side had originally taken the lead in Wednesday’s cup final through Rory Brown before a Ryan Burgess hat-trick saw them suffer a 3-2 defeat at Havelock Park.

They now take on fifth placed Portadown who could overtake them into third with a win.

The hosts come into the weekend fresh off the back of a 2-1 win over PSNI with goals from Luke Bell and Mark Campbell with the result now meaning they have won three of their last six games in the division.

Elsewhere, Instonians could move level on points with top of the table Cookstown if they can beat North Down.

The Belfast club are three points behind the league leaders but having already played a game more than their title rivals.

They now take on a North Down side who are ninth in the division and without a win in their last three league outings.

Belfast Harlequins are looking to continue their fine form in the Men’s Premier League as they face Queen’s University at The Dub.

Quins are unbeaten in their last five league outings and have won three on the trot with victories over P.S.N.I, North Down and Bangor.

Meanwhile, last weekend’s 8-1 victory over the newly crowned Anderson Cup champions saw Matthew Gray continue his own personal form, netting five on the day and making it 8 goals in his last three games.

Opponents Queen’s University also come into the tie off the back of an impressive victory, beating North Down 6-4 with Ben Law scoring four.

A win for the students could see them climb as high as third in the table with the four sides chasing the final EYHL2 place coming into the weekend separated by just two points.

The final game of the weekend sees newly crowned Anderson Cup champions Bangor take on PSNI.
