LWM: Armagh Climb out of relegation places

In the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League, Armagh took a step towards safety as they beat relegation rivals Ballymoney 3-1.

In a dominant opening 30 minutes, the visitors stormed to a 3-0 lead with goals from Katelyn Johnston, Grace McCool and Mia Taylor.

With 59 minutes on the clock, Nikki Parke struck for the hosts to reduce the deficit to two, however, in the final ten minutes of the tie, her side were unable to trouble Armagh as they fell to a 3-1 loss.

The result sees Armagh end their eleven-game wait for a win in the division as they climb out of the relegation playoff place.

Following the result at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Armagh were boosted by Mossley’s 3-0 win over Omagh.

After a goalless first quarter, Lucy Campbell struck twice in quick succession to give her side a 2-0 lead.

The Mossley player struck from a penalty corner before netting her second of the afternoon, bringing her tally for the season to eight league goals.

Meanwhile, Kate Spillane continued her form in front of goal as she added a third Mossley effort to make it six goals in seven games and round off the comfortable win for her side.

Elsewhere, Lurgan continued their EYHL2 charge as they beat Banbridge 3-1.

Lydia McNeill gave the hosts an early lead when she scored her ninth goal of the season midway through the first quarter.

However, they were quickly pegged back as Nancy McCusker scored for the third game running to level for Banbridge.

The scores remained level until the third period, when a second of the afternoon from McNeill and a strike from Jo Reid saw Lurgan storm to a 3-1 lead and secure all three points

The result also sees leaders Ards have to put the champagne on ice for another week as they need just one more point to secure the title.

The final game of the weekend saw Belfast Harlequins return to winning ways they beat Larne 3-1.
