Senior Stevenson Cup and Bowl Semi-Final Roundup

Four sides booked their place in the Senior Stevenson Cup and Bowl Finals with Semi-Final wins yesterday afternoon.

Royal School Armagh, Banbridge Academy, Cookstown High School and Lurgan College all sealed their places and will compete in the Finals in two weeks time.

In the Cup, reigning champions Royal School Armagh required a shootout to get past Belfast Royal Academy.

It was the Belfast school that went closest to winning the tie in normal time, with a late disallowed goal being the best chance of the game.

Instead, the sides finished goalless and headed to a shootout for a place in the final, with Royal School Armagh booking their place for a fourth consecutive year, winning 5-4.

The second semi-final saw Banbridge Academy beat reigning Belfast Telegraph Senior Cup champions Portadown College 1-0.

With the sides having played out three goalless quarters, it was Banbridge who finally broke the deadlock midway through the final period.

Having won a short corner, the ball eventually fell for Charlotte Betts at the penalty spot, and she volleyed in from close range to give her side the lead.

With no Portadown response, Banbridge held on to their narrow advantage to win 1-0 and book their spot in the final.

In the Bowl, Cookstown High School sealed their Final place with a shootout victory over Antrim Grammar School.

Ruby Hyndman gave Antrim Grammar the lead just four minutes into the tie – a lead which her side held until the closing stages of the game.

With just five minutes left on the clock, Lois Cunningham struck level for the Mid-Ulster school and forced the sides to a shootout.

It was there that Cookstown came out on top, winning 2-1 and joining their U14s in reaching the Bowl Final.

They will meet Lurgan College in two weeks after they beat Glenlola Collegiate with a late winner.

Like the first semi-final, the sides looked to be heading to a shootout with the scores locked at 0-0 as the tie approached the closing stages.

However, with just three minutes remaining, Lydia Neill fired her side into the lead with what proved to be the games winning goal.

After their 1-0 lead, they will face Cookstown High School at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on Wednesday, 26th November 2025.
