CI Annadale announce passing of Brian Caruth

Everyone at Ulster Hockey is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Brian Caruth, an esteemed member of CI Annadale Hockey Club and a former member of the Ulster Hockey Competitions Committee.

Brian was also the President of CI Annadale for the past three years and is recognised with playing a key role in the affiliation between CI and Annadale Hockey Clubs in that time.

Having served as Chairman for seven years at Hockey Ireland, he was also a long term board member and chair of the HI Competitions Committee and Disciplinary Panel before also becoming a Life Member.

In Ulster, Brian served on the Competitions Committee as well as holding several roles at Collegians Men’s Hockey Club, Belfast Harlequins Hockey Club and Queen’s University Ladies.

In a statement on their social media, CI Annadale said:

“The members of CI Annadale H.C. are heartbroken over the sudden passing of our esteemed club President, Mr Brian Caruth.

He was always there on the side of the pitch, supporting and encouraging. And, just as reliably, he was always there throughout the week dealing with the off the pitch matters.

Brian loved a committee, and he threw himself into every part of the club, helping wherever he could and always wanting to make things better.

Today, our thoughts are with Liz, Peter and the entire Caruth family. As a club, we are heartbroken to lose not just a hugely respected figure but a genuine friend to so many of us.

Rest easy, Brian. You will be sorely missed, but you’ll always be part of the CI Annadale legacy.”
