We are delighted to announce George Wilson has been appointed as the new Chair of Ulster Hockey, replacing Billy Pollock who held the post since 2017.

George is a familiar face to many within Ulster Hockey having been President for the past year as well as being a long term member of Bangor Hockey Club.

He has already begun his new role following our AGM which took place on Tuesday night describing his new role as Chair as a ‘pleasure’.

“It is with great pleasure, and pride, that I take on the role of Chair of Ulster Hockey.

Hockey has been a mainstay of my life for almost fifty years, and I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our game.

Much has been achieved in recent years, and whilst challenges remain, there is a sound strategic base for the game on which to progress”.

Meanwhile Ulster Hockey CEO Marc Scott acknowledged the work of the outgoing Billy Pollock and welcomed the appointment of his successor.

“I wish to put on record my thanks to Billy for his support and guidance in my time with Ulster Hockey.

Billy was in post as Chair for 7 years and the progress made by the organisation in that time has been significant.

Billy approached his role in Ulster Hockey with commitment, passion and a large degree of skill which has been a key factor in guiding the organisation through some significant challenges while continuing to grow and prosper.

I look forward to continuing the journey with George Wilson as the incoming Chair who I have no doubt will bring a fresh impetus to the organisation and lead us to build further, engage our members and sustain the sport in the future.”
