South Antrim maintained their perfect start to the Men’s Premier League season as they beat Kilkeel 4-3.
The Lisburn side have won all four of their opening games this campaign and are two points clear at the top of the table.
David Gallagher and Chris Henry both scored for a second week running whilst further strikes from Max Turner and Oli Patterson helped seal the narrow away victory over last season’s runners-up.
The win keeps South Antrim top of the division as the only team yet to drop a point this campaign whereas Saturday’s opponents stay in eighth place following a difficult start to the season which has seen them lose three of their first four games.
Cookstown continued their fine start to the Men’s Premier League with a 3-2 away win against Instonians.
Three goals from Scott McCabe (2) and Michael Kerr gave the visitors a healthy 3-0 lead in the tie heading into the fourth quarter.
However, two late strikes from Matthew McAreavey and Ben Palmer saw the hosts reduce the deficit to just one as the game approached the dying stages, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
The win sees Cookstown stay second, two points behind the league leaders whilst Instonians drop to fifth.
Portadown continued their fine form as they beat P.S.N.I 4-1 at Newforge.
Ryan Bennett continued his impressive start to the season as he scored his fifth goal and for the third game running.
Three more goals from MacKenzie Bennett, Matty Winter and James McQuitty sealed the win despite a consolation goal from their hosts.
The victory sees Portadown make it three games unbeaten as they climb to fourth in the table whilst P.S.N.I remain seventh.
The final game of the day saw Queen’s University comfortably beat North Down 4-0 at The Dub.
Having taken an early lead with two goals from Harry Scott got the student side got off to a flying start.
Further goals from Josh Brownlee and Stephen Hamill rounded off the victory and means the University outfit have now lost just one of their opening four league games ahead of an Anderson Cup semi-final against South Antrim tomorrow evening.
