The Ulster U16 sides continued their Interprovincial preparations with a series of games against the UK Lions this afternoon.
Having won their opening game on Friday the girls’ followed up a strong performance with two more wins, whilst the boys’ were dealt a series of defeats.
Girls:
Having won their opening game of the series on Friday night, the Ulster side continued their winning form with a 2-1 victory in their opening game on Saturday.
Goals from Grace Adamson and Zoe Caskey sealed a narrow 2-1 win for Davy Menaul’s squad, despite a consolation goal from our visitors.
In their second and final game of the afternoon, it was Ulster who came out on top more, winning 4-0.
Adamson got her second of the afternoon before goals from Cassie McMaw and Erin McCourt extended the hosts lead to 3-0.
With the game entering the final stages, Zara Moyo rounded off the scoring, pouncing on a spilt save from the goalkeeper and scoring into an open goal.
Boys:
In a difficult first game of the afternoon, Angus Barbour gave his side the lead on the brink of half-time, converting the rebound from an initial Josh Aiken Strike.
However, with the UK Lions having got back into the game, Ethan Kilpatrick’s drag flick into the bottom left corner was not enough for the side to salvage a result, with the Lions winning the first game of the day 3-2.
In the second game of the afternoon, the side fell to a 4-0 loss before the visitors made it three wins in a row with a 6-0 victory in the third fixture of the day.
The final game of the day saw Ulster convert from an early penalty corner, only for the goal to be ruled out by the umpire before going on to suffer a narrow 2-1 defeat.
A goal either side of half-time was followed by a late Carter Lunn strike from a penalty corner, but the goal came to late in the tie for the side to earn anything from the game.
The sides will all meet for a final round of games tomorrow, with the action getting underway from 10am at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.
