U14 Stevenson Cup and Bowl Semi-Finals Roundup

Yesterday afternoon, four sides booked their spots in the 2025 U14 Stevenson Cup and Bowl Finals.

Methodist College Belfast, Banbridge Academy, Limavady Grammar School and Cookstown High School all secured narrow Semi-Final wins at Linsgarvey Hockey Club.

The first game of the day saw Methodist College Belfast squeeze past Rainey Endowed School via a shootout.

It was Rainey Endowed who took the lead with just ten minutes on the clock when Florence Mitchell was left unmarked at the back post before tapping in the rebound.

However, straight from the restart, Methody were back level when Roxy Irivine struck in the 12th minute to send the sides into the first break at 1-1.

The schools remained at a deadlock until full-time, when a shootout was required to determine a winner, and it was the Belfast school that came out on top.

Still level at 3-3 after five attempts each, Cora Magee eventually scored the decisive goal to earn her side a narrow win and send them through to the final.

In two weeks’ time, they will face Banbridge Academy, who booked their place in the final two with a win over Ballymena Academy.

Level at the end of the first quarter, it was Phalynn Crossley who eventually broke the deadlock with 19 minutes played before vice captain Annabelle Betts sealed the win in the dying stages of the tie.

With no Ballymena response, Banbridge held out for the 2-0 victory and set up their clash with Methodist College Belfast.

In the U14 Stevenson Bowl, there were two more closely contested Semi-Finals as Limavady Grammar School and Cookstown High School both booked their place in the final with narrow wins.

Firstly, it was Limavady who edged past Omagh Academy in another game which went all the way to a shootout.

It was a game which saw defences who came out on top as the sides remained at a stalemate for the 50 minutes, as it finished goalless at the end of normal time.

In the shootout, it was the County Londonderry side who came out on top, winning 3-1.

The final U14 game of the day saw Cookstown High School take on Lurgan Junior High School.

The tie was yet another which saw an evenly contested affair as one goal proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Genevieve Philips-Booth struck in the 13th minute of the tie to give her side a slender advantage and what proved to be the game-winning goal.

All four Finals will be played on Wednesday, 26th November at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.
