Portadown College and Royal School Armagh go head-to-head in the Belfast Telegraph Girls Senior Cup tomorrow evening.
RSA are looking to retain their title having beaten Strathearn in last year’s final 2-0 whilst Portadown are looking for their first win since 1996 when they beat Foyle and Londonderry College.
Tomorrow’s game also sees a repeat of The Wooden Floor Company Senior Superleague Final back in November when it was Royal School Armagh who came out on top in a 3-1 win.
Both sides qualified with wins in last month’s semi-finals when Portadown College progressed with a victory over Ballyclare High School and RSA beat Rainey Endowed.
Goals from Sophie McMahon (2) and Emily Adamson helped PC to a 3-1 win despite a late consolation goal from Ballyclare’s Joanna Nesbitt.
Meanwhile, Armagh progressed after a thrilling 4-2 win over Rainey Endowed with goals from Joni Cunningham (2), Scarlett Taylor and Daisy Nicholson.
This year’s final will also see the introduction of the Robert Stevenson MBE Player of the Match trophy which will be presented from this season’s final onwards. Ulster Hockey welcomes George Barclay, friend and former colleague of Stevie to tomorrow’s match to present the trophy and say a few words in tribute.
Tomorrow’s final is set to get underway at 7pm with the gate for spectators set to open at 6:15pm. Everyone hoping to be in attendance should also be aware that there is an admission fee of £3 for pupils and £6 for adults.
