Ulster Hockey’s Boys Finals Week took place at Havelock Park last week with five sides winning silverware.
The big winners of the week were Cookstown High School who completed a treble of the Richardson Cup, Bannister Bowl and Ferris Cup.
Having won the Ferris Cup the week prior Cookstown overcame Friends’ School Lisburn on penalty run-ins to win the Bannister Bowl following a 2-2 draw in normal time and two strikes from Noah Cuddy.
The next day CHS completed their treble as Ed Irwin’s drag flick and a goal for Callum Hewitt saw the school beat RBAI 2-1 to win the Richardson Cup.
That came a week after the school had also won the Ferris Cup against the same opposition with Cuddy and Hewitt sealing the one on that occasion.
Grosvenor Grammar also saw success as they beat Methodist College Belfast 2-1 in the Burney Plate Final.
After a tense first three quarters, the game sprung into life in the final ten minutes of the game when Alex Camacho opened the scoring for the eventual winners before two goals in the dying stages saw the game finish 2-1.
The result also saw Grosvenor rectify their defeat to Methody in the McCullough Cup Final before Christmas.
The final game of the week saw Lurgan College and Markethill High School contest the Taylor Cup.
Another tight encounter between two school evenly matched schools’ looked to be heading to penalty run-ins before Markethill captain Sam Mills got the only goal of the game.
With his effort the school won the final competition of the week and were crowned champions of the Taylor Cup.
