Pegasus and Ulster Elks go head-to-head in the Denman Shield Final on Tuesday evening at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.
The tie sees Ulster’s two EYHL Women’s sides battle it out for the oldest competition in female hockey in Ulster.
Pegasus come into the game as the record winners of the competition, having lifted the shield on a staggering 30 ocassions, whilst they have also won the last four renditions.
They qualified for the showpiece final after progressing from the same group as tomorrow night’s opponents before beating Banbridge 4-1 in their semi-final back in March.
That night a hat-trick from former Ireland international Shirley McCay and a strike from Alex Speers helped to seal the win and book their place in tonight’s showpiece final.
Meanwhile, Joel Cathcart’s Ulster Elks side come into the game looking to win the competition for just the second time, having first won it back in 2010.
Having topped the group stage, they advanced past Lisnagarvey in the semi-finals when two goals from Chloe Stewart and a strike from Leah McGuire completed a 3-1 win over their hosts.
The two finalists have also already met three times already this season with Pegasus so far coming out on top following a 3-2 win in November and two draws.
However, it was the University side who finished higher in the EYHL league table, finishing the season in seventh, three points ahead of eighth-placed Pegasus.
Tuesday’s final gets underway at 7:15pm on the green pitch at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club with a gate fee of £8 for adults and £6 for children.
