Former Ulster Hockey President Mirdza Oak celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday.
Mirdza was in the role from 1985 to 1987 whilst she also fulfilled several other roles including Treasurer and Treasurer Umpires Association. Meanwhile she was also the President of Knock Hockey Club for an extended period of time.
She was described by Hilary Milligan as “a wonderful character who played, umpired and served as President and Treasurer for Ulster.” Meanwhile she is believed to be the first lady to be an accountant.
Despite her age Mirdza is thoroughly enjoying life and has just renewed her driving licence for another three years!
