It is with great sadness and regret we hear of the passing of Jennifer Hobson MBE, a much-loved friend, umpiring colleague and Dungannon Hockey Club member.
She made an outstanding contribution to all aspects of club life for over 40 years including player ( first a right wing and then a goalkeeper when someone was needed to step in !) ; Chairperson; President and in latter years as umpire. She embraced all roles with passion and commitment.
It is within her umpiring role that the wider hockey community will know her best having been chair of the ladies committee ( where she helped bring about amalgamation) and as a panel umpire .
She was a great encourager and mentor to young umpires which was recognised in 2016 when presented with the Hall cup for ‘womens personality of the year)
We will miss her charismatic and vibrant presence greatly and pay tribute to the many years she was such an integral member of Dungannon Hockey Club .
