Ulster Hockey were delighted to present the trophy to the two finalists of the John Minnis Burney Cup 2020. With the final cancelled due to the pandemic, the decision was made to have a presentation for Friends School Lisburn and Sullivan Upper who were both due to meet in the final of the competition.

While it was disappointing the final was unable to take place, it was a great opportunity to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of both schools. In what would have been a repeat of the 2018 final, Sullivan came past RBAI in the semi-final with a convincing 5-1 win, while Friends beat Wallace by the same score line.

Ulster Hockey are considering all options for the schools competitions and are hopeful that we will be able to coordinate some form of competitive or recreational schools hockey before the end of the academic year.

We are thrilled with the continued support of John Minnis Estate Agents and we were privileged that Company Director, John Minnis was in attendance to present the captains with the trophy. John Minnis have been a sponsor of the competition since 2018 and Ulster Hockey are extremely grateful for their continued support. Terry Templeton, outgoing President of Ulster Hockey Union and Ann Rosa, Chair of Ulster Schools Committee also attended the presentation.
