Omagh host Armagh in a relegation six-pointer this afternoon in the Legacy Ulster Women’s Premier League.
The sides are separated by just one point and occupy the bottom two spots in the division.
The last time the sides met proved to be a five-goal thriller with Armagh coming out on top – a result which has so far proved to be their only win of the season so far.
That day goals from Pippa Best, Lydia Thompson and Chelsie Hird were enough to get Armagh their first and only points of the season.
It is Omagh who find themselves one point ahead of today’s opposition, despite being on a ten-game losing streak.
The Senior One Champions made a promising start to life in the division with four points from their opening two games.
However, have struggled for form ever since, losing every game and being dragged into the relegation battle.
If the side are to turn around their current run, they will be reliant on Sophie Smyth to find the back of the net.
She has so far netted on three occasions for her side and provides their biggest goal threat, whilst Rachel and Aimee Buchanan both scored against today’s opposition in the reverse fixture.
A win for either side would go a long way to improving their survival chances whilst defeat could all but seal their fate.
In-form Lisnagarvey will be hoping to continue their recent success when they host local rivals Banbridge.
A win could see the side climb to sixth in the table, whilst opponents Banbridge could take a step towards safety.
The home side come into the game with three wins and a draw in their last five outings, a run which has seen them climb the league in recent weeks.
Last weeks stalemate at Lurgan saw Scarlett Swann score her fourth goal of the campaign, a joint team high with Dianne Robb.
Today’s opponents Banbridge come into the tie just three points ahead of bottom of the table Armagh and two ahead of ninth-placed Omagh.
With those two sides also playing today, a negative result could see them further dragged into the relegation fight.
However, recent weeks have been tough for the side with just one win in their last five outings when the side sealed a 3-1 win against Omagh.
If they are to cause an upset today they will be reliant on the form of Rachel Cairns. The forward has found the net on five occasions this season and provides her team’s biggest goal threat.
