Hockey Ireland are excited to announce that our national coaching conference, Hooked 2018, will return on Sunday September 9th in King’s Hospital School, Dublin.
The theme of this year’s conference will focus on developing young players with potential. After an extremely successful summer and fresh from his World Cup silver medal win, Irish women’s head coach and former Irish international Graham Shaw will be presenting alongside Belgium High Performance Director Adam Commens. Adam is a former Australian international player and has coached both Australia women and Belgium men.
We are also delighted to announce that former Irish international captain, Sarah Kelleher, will return to Ireland to present at Hooked. Sarah played for Ireland for over 10 years, including the 1994 World Cup, and has worked extensively within the international underage system in England for over 8 years with huge success. She is currently the head coach of England U18 girls and was recently appointed joint head coach of Hampstead and Westminster HC alongside Olympic gold medallist Kate Richardson-Walsh.
Our keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Richard Bailey. Richard is one of the world’s leading researchers into the relationships between sport, physical activity, and human development. He leads research at the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, the worldwide umbrella body for sports science and education organisations. Richard has worked with organisations such as the International Olympic Committee, the PGA, the FA, the Premier League, OECD and UNESCO and in Ireland with Sport Ireland Coaching and several Irish national governing bodies. He is one of the leading experts on coaching and coach education and regularly tweets on these subjects (@DrDickB).
Tickets for the day are priced at €85 (including refreshments and lunch) and can be purchased here: https://store.hockey.ie/product/?8235_hookedConference2018.html
