Linwoods Youth Blitzes get off to a Flyer!!
Sunday October 7th saw the first of this season’s Linwoods Healthfoods Super 6s and Extreme 8s boys’ blitzes after the girls’ event kicked off a week earlier.
Banbridge, Ballynahinch, Instonians and Cookstown hosted the boys events across the province and with upwards of 800 lads out playing hockey large crowds gathered at each venue to cheer on the boys.
Each host did an amazing job and we are appreciative for their continued support of our youth hockey blitzes.
The next instalment of the Super 6s and Extreme 8s will be on October 21st, with Portadown, CI and Antrim. Make sure to get down and cheer on the boys!!
The previous Sunday saw the first of this season’s youth hockey Super 6s and Extreme 8s for girls.
This format of hockey allows for our young players to get lots of touches of the ball and give them a fast paced, fun and exciting way to play hockey.
Portadown, Coleraine, NICS, Owls, Larne and North Down were the host clubs from right across Ulster.
More than 1500 girls came out to play hockey and without the tireless effort of our blitz hosts this would not have happened.
Sunday also saw the first outing of our young umpires. As they start their umpiring journey we ask all clubs, coaches, parents and spectators to please observe our RESPECT campaign and allow our umpires to make mistakes just as they would playing the game.
Linwoods Health foods continue their fantastic support of our youth hockey and we are indebted for the invaluable support they provide for our programmes.
The next instalment of girls Super 6s and Extreme 8s will be on October 21st with Belfast Harlequins, Ulster Elks, Dromore, Ards and Priorians acting as hosts.
Get down and show your support!!
