In the Men’s Premier League, Cookstown continued their fine form as they beat an in-form Portadown side 4-1 at Edenvilla.
The hosts took a surprise lead in the first quarter as Mackenzie Bennett got his third goal of the season from a well-worked penalty corner routine.
The lead didn’t last for long as Michael Kerr made it 1-1 in the dying stages of the first quarter.
Before long the mid-Ulster side were in front as Mark Crooks combined with Callum Anderson before picking out Scott McCabe who deflected in from close range.
They then doubled their lead as Greg Allen and McCabe combined before Michael Kerr deflected in at the back post before Allen converted from the penalty spot to round off the victory.
Elsewhere, Kilkeel got their second win of the season as they thrashed North Down 5-1.
Two David Finlay goals and strikes from Taylor McConnell, Mark Henning and Neil Stevenson gave the hosts a convincing lead before North Down got a late consolation strike as Frazer McCain converted from a penalty corner to bring the final score to 5-1.
The win sees Kilkeel move to seventh in the division whilst their opponents drop to the foot of the table.
Bangor got their first win of the season as they beat Queen’s University at the Aurora Leisure Centre.
Forward JJ Holley and Dave McClune both got on the scoresheet for Bangor, whilst Philip Campbell scored for a second week running for the visitors.
The win moves Bangor off the bottom of the table into ninth place whereas the students tasted defeat for a second week running and
