In the Men’s Premier League, South Antrim dropped points for the first time this season as they lost 2-1 against Portadown.
David Gallagher continued his fine form, netting for a third game running but it proved to be a consolation goal as Luke Bell and Ryan Bennett both got on the scoresheet for Portadown.
The result sees them win for a third game running and without a defeat in their last four fixtures as they climb into fourth spot in the division.
Meanwhile, South Antrim drop from top spot following Cookstown’s 3-2 win against Kilkeel.
The new league leaders got the games opening goal after Michael Kerr dispossessed his opposite number before finding brother Danny at the back post who tapped in.
The visitors soon turned the game on its head as Luke Russell and David Hamilton both struck to give them a 2-1 lead.
However, Michael Kerr equalised with his fifth of the season, lifting his effort over the goalkeeper following an initial Callum Anderson shot.
The game was wrapped up when Jack Haycock scored a drag flick in the final quarter to restore the Cookstown advantage and eventually seal all three points.
At Deramore Park Belfast Harlequins came from behind to beat Queen’s University 2-1.
The student side took an early lead as Philip Campbell struck following a high turnover in the Harlequins half.
Their hosts equalised just eight minutes later as Michael Patterson’s reverse strike from the top of the circle was deflected into the roof of the net by youngster Hamdi Faisal.
The comeback was then complete as Patterson was involved once more.
Having gone on a great solo run, the midfielder picked out teammate Cameron Ruttle in the circle and he converted what proved to be the games winning goal.
The final game of the weekend saw Instonians get back to winning ways as they beat North Down 5-2.
Goals from Ben Palmer (2), William Robinson, Stephen Kelso and Matthew McCord sealed the victory for Adam Louden’s side despite strikes from Andrew Welsh and Frazer McCane.
The win ends a run of three games without victory for the Belfast side and moves them up to third in the division whilst North Down stay in ninth.
