Cookstown could make it four wins in a row when they face Belfast Harlequins in the Men’s Premier League this afternoon.
‘The Reds’ travel to Belfast in fine form and three points clear at the top of the league with a game in hand.
The key to their recent run of form has been the form of defender Jack Haycock who has six goals in his last three games.
Meanwhile, their hosts come into the game off the back of conceding 10 goals in their last two outings.
Back-to-back losses against Portadown and South Antrim have seen the South Belfast side lose ground to those above them as they could drop to fifth in the table today.
If they are to get something from today’s game they will be reliant on the recent form of Cameron Ruttle.
Since joining, the forward has scored five goals in as many games whilst teammate Michael Patterson has 12 strikes this season.
There is also a massive game at the bottom end of the table as North Down host Raphoe.
With Instonians looking likely to get relegated from the EYHL, today’s home side are in danger of facing a relegation play-off.
Luckily for North Down, they have got a timely boost with top scorer Gareth McKeown set to return from a recent injury setback.
Today’s opposition are also in desperate need of a victory as they occupy an automatic relegation spot and are yet to win a game this season.
Whilst a win wouldn’t move Raphoe out of the drop zone, they could close the gap to ninth to just two points.
Elsewhere third place Kilkeel are looking to maintain the pressure on Cookstown as they travel to NICS.
Having led the title race for much of this season, they have recently slipped four points behind top spot, but with a game in hand.
A large factor in their form this campaign has been down to the duo of Luke Russell and David Rae with the pair having combined for an impressive 23 goals this campaign.
They face a struggling NICS side who have seven points from their opening eleven league games this season.
Should they get a win against the run of form, they could climb to as high as seventh in the table and out of the relegation zone.
There are a further two games taking place in the division with Bangor hosting South Antrim and Queen’s University facing an in-form Portadown.
