South Antrim got their first EYHL2 win of the campaign as they beat Railway Union 6-0 in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

Max Turner opened the scoring after great work from teammate Peter Milligan saw him left with an early tap-in.

The visitors doubled their advantage when Lee Marshall dispossessed his opponent before picking out Max Taylor whose reverse was deflected goal-bound by Ryan West.

Top scorer Jordan Robinson made it 3-0 from a short corner before half-time with Oliver Patterson deflecting in a fourth at the beginning of the third quarter.

The ruthless South Antrim continued to push forward and got a fifth goal when Taylor played a one-two with West before flicking past the goalkeeper and into the roof of the net.

Having played a key role in the opening goal, Miligan rounded off the scoring from a third short corner goal with his drag flick going high into the goal.

The days other game in Pool B saw Cookstown unable to continue their winning start to the competition as they lost 4-1 against Cork Harlequins.

Having gone a goal ahead from a Greg Allen short corner the Mid-Ulster side were unable to maintain their advantage.

A hat-trick from Julian Dale and a strike from Sam Dale saw the hosts turn the game around and seal the victory.

The win makes it three wins from as many games for the Munster side whilst Cookstown drop points for the first time.

In Pool A Queen’s University’s difficult start to the EYHL2 continued as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Avoca.

Having gone behind within five minutes, Cody Large drew the students level in the 48th minute.

However, two goals in the last 12 minutes from Hayden Vaitekenas and Guy Saratt sealed the points for the hosts.

In the Ulster Men’s Premier League North Down and NICS proved inseparable as the sides drew 2-2 in a massive game at the bottom of the table.

Having originally taken the lead through Gareth McKeown, North Down relied on a late equaliser from Gareth Bailey to seal a crucial point.

The sides remain separated by four points with NICS having played a game less than yesterday’s opponents and currently occupying a relegation playoff spot.

The final game of the day saw Bangor beat bottom of the league Raphoe 5-1 at the Aurora Leisure Centre.

The win keeps the hosts seventh in the table whilst their opponents are now seven points behind ninth-placed NICS.
