Banbridge and Lisnagarvey go head-to-head once more as the side prepare to meet in the 2026 Anderson Cup Final on Wednesday evening.
The game sees a repeat of the 2023-24 final which saw Banbridge run out 4-2 winners and comes just days after Lisnagarvey pipped their rivals to the EYHL title on the final day of the season.
Matthew Nelson’s first quarter strike sealed a 1-0 win for the Hillsborough side against YMCA whilst a last minute penalty corner saw Avoca earn a 2-2 draw at Havelock Park to hand Garvey a second consecutive league title.
During this season the two sides have already met, three times, with Banbridge coming out on top with two wins.
In their first league meeting it was Scott McCandless’ side who came out on top, winning 3-2 at Comber Road before also sealing a derby win in the Kirk Cup Semi-Final last month.
However, it was Lisnagarvey who were victorious in the sides league meeting at Havelock Park when goals from Mark McNellis (2), Oliver Kidd, Daniel Nelson and Mackenzie Connor sealed a 5-3 win for the eventual league champions.
In this competition, both sides progressed to the final with wins over top Premier League opposition.
Lisnagarvey beat Instonians as Oliver Kidd’s penalty corner proved to be the pick of the action before Banbridge cruised into the final with a convincing win over Queen’s University.
Coming into the tie, both sides are led by in-form forwards with Banbridge’s Louis Rowe netting 21 league goals this season, whilst Matthew Neslon and Oliver Kidd scored a combined 29 for Lisnagarvey this season.
Wednesday’s game is set to get underway from 7:30pm at Havelock Park with all spectators are welcome at the event, with a gate fee of £8 for adults and £5 for children.
