In the Ulster Men’s Premier League Cookstown got a statement win over Belfast Harlequins as they won 5-0 in mid-Ulster.

Michael Kerr was at the centre of the home sides attack as he opened the scoring with a drag flick in the first quarter before assisting teammate Mark Crooks for the second.

It was 3-0 on the brink of half-time when Danny Kerr got on the end of Gregg Allen’s pass, while Allen got in on the act himself to make it 4-0 before Michael Kerr assisted Callum Anderson for a fifth.

Having lost to Harlequins on matchday one, Portadown made it two wins in a row as they beat Champions Queen’s University 5-2.

Goals from Adam Stevenson, Ross Beattie, Ben Gordon, Matty Bell and Matty Winter made it a complete performance at Edenvilla as they move up to third in the table.

On Friday night Kilkeel went top of the league as they got the biggest win of any team this season so far.

The new league leaders won 8-0 against NICS as they also continued their 100 per cent record this campaign.

Goals from Luke Russell, William Annett, Jonathan Aiken, Mark Henning and four from David Rae rounded off a great night for the County Down side.

Meanwhile, it remains tight at the top as they edge out Cookstown on goals scored.

In Saturday’s other fixtures Raphoe and North Down shared the spoils as they drew 1-1 and South Antrim beat Bangor 1-0 in Lisburn. The result leaves Bangor bottom of the league as the only team yet to earn a point this season whilst South Antrim go fourth.
