Queen’s University will be crowned Legacy Wealth Management Premier League champions for a second consecutive season if they beat Armagh this weekend.
Simon Bell’s side are currently two points clear at the top of the division, with second placed Portadown two points behind and playing their final game of the season this weekend.
The students are also on course for an invincible campaign, yet to lose in their 16 league games to date, the side are on a seven game winning run whilst top scorer Zoe Wilson has netted four goals in her last two games.
However, Saturday’s opponents Armagh have already pulled off one upset this week, beating EYHL2 chasing Lurgan 2-1 midweek with goals from Grace McCool and Cadence Gillespie.
Elsewhere, Portadown travel to Omagh still with slim hopes of being crowned champions of the division.
A 0-0 midweek draw with Belfast Harlequins all but ended the youthful sides hopes of winning the division but promotion remains on the guards with the team in the midst of a promising EYHL2 campaign.
Looking to end their league season on a high they take on an Omagh side that they dispatched 3-0 earlier in the season with goals from Emma McEntee, Emily Adamson and Katie Herron.
In the Men’s Premier League, champions and current leaders Cookstown can extend their lead at the top of the division to four points as they host PSNI.
The Mid-Ulster side are unbeaten this campaign having won 11 of their 12 league outings and have three games in hand of second-placed Instonians.
The two sides also met midweek when the table-toppers edged out a 2-0 win with tow goals from Jack Haycock, extending their winning run to nine games.
The game also marks the final game of the season for PSNI who without a win would leave themselves vulnerable to facing relegation from the division.
Elsewhere Kilkeel host Queen’s University with the sides coming into the weekend off the back of differing midweek results.
The home side were on the wrong en of a 6-1 thumping from Bangor whilst the students held title chasing Instonians to a 3-3 draw and kept their own hopes of EYHL2 hockey next season alive.
Meanwhile Ben Law will be looking to conitnue his own personal form with the Queen’s player currently leading the division for goal.
Another win for the students could see move into third place in the division and overtake South Antrim.
The final game of the weekend sees Portadown host Bangor at Edenvilla.
Both sides come into the tie off the back of recent victories the hosts having won their last two and could still finish as high as fourth in the division.
However, the face a tough task as they take on a Bangor side looking to go three games unbeaten with the side having also claimed cup success winning the Anderson Cup.
