Yesterday afternoon the semi-finals of The Wooden Floor Company Senior Superleague took place at Lisnagarvey with the four winning sides booking their places in the finals on Wednesday 22nd November.
In Tier A Portadown College beat Banbridge Academy 3-1 with goals from Rebekah Lennon, Emily Adamson and Sophie McMahon.
They took the lead through Lennon with just eight minutes played when she converted from a penalty corner before their lead was doubled by Adamson on the brink of half-time.
Banbridge did grab a goal back when Alyssa Sommerville scored from a short corner just three minutes after the restart, but it proved to be a consolation goal as Portdadown’s Sophie McMahon sealed her sides spot in the final with 60 minutes on the clock.
They will face Royal School Armagh in the final after they beat Rainey Endowed 2-0.
Hannah Redmond gave her side the lead when she got on the end of a short corner to deflect in at the back post.
With both sides threatening to get the next goal, Rainey finally doubled their advantage with the last touch of the game when Annie Cunningham’s reverse strike flew in at the near post.
In Tier B Royal School Dungannon booked their spot in the final as they beat Lurgan College 4-2.
The eventual winners took the lead with just three minutes played when Erin Mathieson rounded off a free-flowing move. However, their lead only lasted three minutes as Jemma Harrison equalised for Lurgan College to continue an end-to-end opening to the game.
Dungannon eventually restored their lead with two goals in quick succession as Evie Girvan struck in the 30th minute before Hannah Herron doubled their advantage just five minutes later.
Mathieson got her second to take the game beyond doubt in the dying stages as her strike from open play made it 4-1.
There was still time for a late consolation goal from Lurgan College as Emma Latimer scored from a penalty corner.
The final game of the day saw Regent House beat Dromore High School in a seven-goal thriller.
Goals from Lottie Wilson, Aimee Sterritt and two from Alyssa Boyd saw the County Down side rush to a four-goal lead in just 25 minutes.
With the game looking all but over Dromore got one back through Amber Murphy before Katy Bradshaw and Murphy before struck from penalty corners to make it 4-3.
Unfortunately for Dromore, they were unable to find an equaliser as they eventually fell to a defeat and narrowly miss out on a place in the final.
