In relation to the Hockey Ireland Board’s decision, the Ulster Hockey Management Board has further decided:
1. Due to the on-going COVID-19 situation, there can be no play-off matches to determine promotion and relegation between leagues and that in ALL applicable leagues (the exception being between Junior and Senior Leagues), the top two teams, as determined by percentage equalisation, will replace the bottom two teams in the league above.
2. In the case of teams having the same final percentage (to 2 decimal places), the following system has been used to determine the final placing of the tied teams:
2.1.1 Points won by each team from the fixtures played between the tied teams.
If this remains equal then:
2.1.2 Goal difference in the fixtures played between the tied teams.
If still equal then:
2.2 Goal difference in all league fixtures played by the tied teams.
3. As the COVID-19 situation has prevented a Clubs Forum to discuss the structure of the Men’s Premier and Intermediate Leagues for Season 2020/21, these leagues will remain ‘as is’ for the 2020/21 season subject to promotion and relegation (as detailed at Point 1). The Competitions Committee will however review the format of the men’s Intermediate League prior to the start of the 2020/21 Season. The Competitions Committee will also review the structure of Men’s Junior Leagues 2 (currently 12 teams), Men’s Junior League 3 (currently 10 teams) and Men’s Junior League 4 (currently 8 teams) with a view to having leagues of equal sizes for the 2020/21 Season.
